I have actually been traveling a bit this year and as always Brent travels all year long – A LOT. His travels are much more different than mine as often times he has to hang at an airport for a few hours waiting to board. While it would seem easier to get a hotel room, if he is on his way home he is so exhausted that if happened on a bed – he would miss his flight. We are happily pleased with these. We even thought about using them for the kids’ bikes when the kids ride to school. For them a word would be MUCH easier to remember than a number. Brent actually deals better with numbers but he could easily find the word he likes, save it to his cell phone and won’t forget that way. Y’all know me and my love of music by now. And you should by now know that I love pretty much every type of music. From Rap to Classical, I have no wide range favorite in one genre. Thanks to being a part of Music Moms I get a chance to hear music and give my thoughts on it!

This time around I got the chance to listen to the CD by David Garrett – Rock Symphonies.

About David Garrett and the album, Rock Symphonies:

David Garrett is not only a technically brilliant recording artist who has received the praise and support of such eminent violin virtuosos as Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin and in particular Ida Haendel. His greatness is also reflected in his mental countenance. As one of the few classically versed artists he has an undistorted perspective on tradition and modernity. Thinking in terms of fixed categories is foreign to him. “In my eye, the Paganinis, Liszts and Chopins of the 19th century were the world’s first rock stars,” he says. Garrett knows the secrets of great music and understands that the more substance a work has, the more possibilities an artist has to make it his own and place it in new contexts. “Bach arranged Vivaldi and Mozart arranged Turkish marches. Beethoven wanted to enchant the masses too, employing musical means to this end. I can’t lie and say I wasn’t a little bit nervous when I put in David Garrett’s CD. Some of those songs are my all time favorites and I was worried they would be ruined. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy the “beat”, if you wish, of the song with the classical style spin. It makes it a lot more interesting and fun to listen to! And to be honest my kids absolutely LOVED it. So it gives them an even more eclectic type taste of music too.

Brodie didn’t seem that interested in it but Dayton and Tristan LOVED it. They thought it was hilarious and Dayton loved the whole “super hero” aspect of it! It is definitely a unique show and to be honest Dayton keeps watching this one over and over. Surprising for him!

A good pen or pencil is close to heaven in my house. I can’t tell you how many pens and pencils I buy weekly to keep up with my kids constantly stealing them or losing them. I actually had a couple great pens but left them in my purse in the car with a orange crayon. They no longer are great pens but orange yucky pens. Sigh.

My Thoughts:

I loved the pen and pencil. Right now the pen is what I use all the time and I try to keep it with me at all times. If I am not at my desk I have now learned to hide it from kids! It writes smoothly and feels great in my hand! The pencil is the same way. Smooth writing and all! Very neat products and I love that they are biodegradable.

We don’t have a designated movie night in The Greer household. We actually spend a good 2/3rd of the week nights having movie night. School nights we eat early, take baths and then watch a movie. That way by the time the movie is over the kids can head to bed. On weekends, especially rainy days/nights we have all day viewing parties and spend time cuddling. Sometimes it’s nice just to slow it down a little.

My Nintendo DS is a shared item in the house. I had to finally resolve my self to the fact that I can’t just have something that is mine. Hey, what do you know – I know how to use this too! Ha! But honestly – I have tried quite a few lip stains, pricey ones even and by far this one takes the cake. I was sent a very subtle color, which props for that because I like to do us the eyes, downplay the lips – and this lip stain added a soft color to my lips and the gloss gave it that shimmer so my lips and the color aren’t totally invisible.

WHAT I THOUGHT:

When you first open the book you are greeted with a run little True or False type quiz. Automatically you get that the book is going to be quite witty. It’s 306+/- pages of informative , more tongue in cheek style writing; from bringing baby home to when it’s time to have an actual visit to the emergency room. When you the hit actual end of this book the author brings you a few, brilliant reminders, like – “Parental Instinct Is Not A Myth”. I loved this book and enjoyed reading it. I loved having a spin on the information instead of just the run of the mill information read out like a text book!

WHAT I THOUGHT:

I loved this bundle. LOVED it. My favorite is the password pad. I have notebook after notebook filled with all my passwords, secret questions etc. This pad gave me the ability to put them all in one spot! Not only good for me but good for Brent as he is always asking me “What is the password for such and such site”.  The other notepads also game me the option to keep everything I write down etc organized in ONE spot and not various spots. Plus the name of these pads keep me smiling too while I am working and writing things down.

So I got on the computer, easily downloaded the application to his phone, chose the book he wanted and downloaded that also. Admittedly we were quite worried about him being able to read the book on the plane while he was flying, but he put his phone in airplane mode and actually finished the book in one day. He was beyond happy and is begging me for new books for him to download for his travels back and forth. No lugging around books, no hassle, just simple!
