Almost done with the my summer playlist as summer is actually almost done here. Believe it or not. The kids go back to school on the 20th, I’ll be in school and heading of to New Orleans soon. Summer is most definitely coming to an end. But with it being Independence Day this song should be on everyone’s list for the 4th of July. Which by the way is my favorite holiday. Ever.

Either way this song doesn’t remind me of a particular summer. It’s every summer.

Family Holiday Fun (Guest Post)

When it comes to a super simple 4th the first thing to think about is what to wear! You have to be festive and fun, while you show off your patriotic colors!

Pick up an inexpensive t-shirt at the discount store. Grab some cardboard or heavy paper and cut out a few stars and lay them on your shirt. Fill a couple of containers with an acrylic paint mixture and spray away! The results are amazing and you will be THE patriotic fashionista! (click here for instructions to make this adorable tee along with a video to create the bleached tee)

For your table grab a few terra cotta pots and paint them red, white and blue. Make each one different. Place a citronella candle in each one and set them in the center of your table. They are festive and keep the bugs away.

To carry all of your wine, tableware and whatever else you need to take to the party save a cardboard wine carrier from the wine store, paint it, embellish it and use it as a carryall to your July 4th event.

Easter will be here soon. Very soon. And we all like to get cute little baskets from the “Easter Bunny”, even us adults too. I of course had to fight the kids off it, but like a good mommy I did share the yummy goodies inside with them.

This is the Hippity Hoppity Easter Gift Stack. It came with a fuzzy bunny that has adjustable arms, legs and ears. The dang thing is so sweet that Tristan snatched it up right away. Brodie snatched the basket to add to her room as decoration and it’s not a cheap basket in the least! Super sturdy – I wanted to fight her for it, but I have no use for it, ha! The delicious goodness inside was tons and tons of candy. Good candy. Brand name candy. Peeps. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Twizzlers. And much more. Valentines Day List

I actually don’t really get into Valentines Day a whole lot. I like doing things for the kids: helping with school parties, baking sweets, helping write cards. Those kind of things. Holidays have grown increasingly more fun as the kids get older and understand each holiday more and more. They don’t ask for much, besides maybe begging for candy, but I still like to surprise them with all kinds of goodies. On the other hand, Brent always gets me something. One year he proposed, another he got me a computer. One year while I was working he got sneaky and left a single rose on my windshield. I never ask for a lot and I quit asking for flowers as I keep EVERY single flower he has ever gotten me, dried them and created potpourri. Well, I’m full of dried flowers so I beg for them to stop coming! So this year, this is my Valentines Day List, hintBrenthint.

Oh Christmas Tree!

This is our Christmas Tree this year. It’s not quite finished, the kids have already stolen ornaments off it and it’s leaning…which I’m not sure why. Thankfully Brent will be home soon to take all corrective action on the mishaps with the tree.

And hopefully the angel doesn’t fall off.

Good news is, it’s still alive and smells oh so good!

Thanksgiving

Today I am not home. Today I am having a wonderful Thanksgiving, as I hope you all are! I wanted to wish you all a magnificent Thanksgiving and list some things I have been thankful for this year!

1. Brent. While he may have been home for six months, they were an spectacular six months. I got to curl up next to him every night, cry to him, talk to him and more. I miss him dearly while he is gone and I hope right now he is having a great day and knows how much we are thinking of him.

2. My Kids. They make me crazy. They make me happy. But everyday I am thankful for them. They make my life perfect!

3.My in laws. They’ve kept in great contact since we left and even though they guilt me (haha) for leaving – I’m glad to be missed.

4. My Mom. It’s been nice living near her and seeing her more oftenn.

5. My Sister In Law-Anna. She comes over once a week watches movies with me, takes me and the kids out when she knows we’ve been in the house too long etc.

6. My Friends. They made my birthday great and I love when they text me, message me etc out of nowhere to tell me they are thinking of me.

7. My Blog. I love it. Plain and simple I love it and all the connections I have made from it.

8. My Health. While I know I could be healthier, I am thankful each morning that I wake up.

9. My Dogs. I know odd, but when days are bad I used to walk out and be with my horses, goat, donkey, chickens and dogs. Now I’ve just got the dogs and they help still. Animals are the best stress relief.

10. I’m thankful for having these 9 and MANY MORE things to be thankful for.

Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day to all of you! I have been tagged a couple times and have a lot to post! But we are moving tomorrow! Yes, we are moving to my home state, Arizona!

I am hoping to have my internet up and going by Wednesday (at the earliest)! So I will be back to blogging, twittering and leaving comments!

Valentines Day –Sappy Stuff

I figured Valentines day is looming so I must get to that inevitable sappy love post right?!

Right.

Plus over at Posh Point Of View they are having a bloggy carnival with some great Mommy Bloggers and their love stories! I just could not bare not to join.

So here it goes, my sappy love post, about the man I FINALLY married.

About 10 years ago to the date, Brent was acting funny. You know how guys get when they have a secret right?! Of course Brent told everyone in the dang country this secret. But me. But I had a clue. An inkling. I knew something was up.

That afternoon I went to his house and he handed me a bag. A yellow paper bag and sticking out I saw a stuffed bear. The bear was covered in his cologne. Hello! Every 16 year old girl wants a bear, shirt, item that smells like their guy!!! A CD. Clay Walker. Brent always says Hypnotize The Moon is my song! A yellow rose. Because at the time, they were my favorite. Yellow roses stand for friendship and I wanted our relationship to begin with that! Awwww. How cute?! And a screw. The humor from that started the night before when he asked me if I wanted to screw? Referring to the screw and screwing it into the wall. Ha Ha Ha. Hardy Har. Kids are just HILARIOUS huh?! But I cherish that memory. Anyway…he says there is one more thing. We hop in the car and drive to the mountains in Arizona. It’s a beautiful breezy, sunny day. Perfection. We hike up a few miles then we stop.

He doesn’t go on one knee.

He is not relaxed or self assured.

He’s shaking.

Hardly breathing.

And he asks me to marry him.

I of course say Yes!

But it doesn’t end there. Nope. I end up pregnant with the beautiful Brodie. Couple years down the road, Dayton comes along. Couple more years down the road, Tristan. One year after Tristan is born, 7 years of living together, having kids and being a family….we marry. And now…

We are happy. We are officially The Greer 5. The Greer’s. And I wouldn’t trade the past 10 years for the world. We’ve had our rough spots. Ups and downs and in betweens. But we are still best friends. And we can’t wait till we are having wheelchair races in the halls of the nursing home in 50 years. (we did that when we worked at a nursing home a few years ago but shhhhhh)

Thank you Brent though. For 10 years of love, tears, children, ups, downs but most of all for friendship. Nothing could be better than knowing when in all else fails, I can always turn to my best friend for everything!
