Burning Up His Pockets

So while Mr. Greer was home and his pockets were burning up, besides paying bills, getting my school loans situated and attempting to get our truck note finally caught up we did splurge on some things that we needed and wanted. All three of the kids televisions were shot and I didn’t want to be them anything expensive so we hit up our goodwill stores and bought them some TV’s, DVD players, clothes, shoes, a basketball hoop, Brent got some much needed clothing for work and various other things.

Daddy

I ended up putting a crap ton of money into savings and getting our savings account back to normal after the Christmas and my New Orleans hit it. Brent got a laptop computer, a much needed one at that so I can have mine back. We finally replaced our TV that was broken and some other little things. Brent is a spender and I often times have to reel him in. I on the other hand got very little but things that I much needed and wanted. New knives as mine were so dull  – I’m talking duller than a butter knife. The EAS Active and some Yoga stuff!

So are you the spender or the saver in your family?

When I had more of an income..I was the spender. Now that my income in quite lower, I save…only because I have nothing to spend.

I’d totally be the spender if we had any money… Since we’re broke and looking at a job change, I let my tight-fisted husband initiate spending decisions. This works out fine, because he still wants to splurge a bit for our anniversary, and keeps a tight check otherwise.

I can be both the spender and the saver but I tend towards saving.

I’d like to be the saver, but never any money to save after bills. Then if we ever get ahead hubby starts splurging and we start all over.
Right now we are in the start all over again and try to get the bills paid down.
I mean I coupon and do store specials for grocery shopping. Make most stuff we eat from scratch. I do without alot. I mean I have literally two pairs of pants. One blue jeans and one pair of tan colored pants (which are about shot). I have one pair of shorts.
I have more clothes for church than anything else. I have four church outfits, but none of them are pantsuits, all long dress outfits.
Truly and this is no lie, my husband uses a big closet for his clothes and then the closet that is in the den too.
I use a small little closet, for my clothes.
Yet, I don’t stop hubby from buying because whenever I’ve tried he just keeps on and on talking all the time about the thing he wants and why it would be great and so on, so I just give into him and let him get it. Otherwise he literally starts to get on my nerves to the point I feel like I’ll start screaming. So it’s not worth it.
He actually went on and on at Christmas time about how I needed a new coat (I didn’t need a new one), and he insisted on buying me this certain kind off the home shopping network. Needless to say they didn’t have my size, but that didn’t stop him, he still bought me one.
I haven’t worn it yet. I would have really liked to have used that eighty dollars to buy paint for the walls, but I couldn’t reason with him, so I didn’t try.
I guess sometimes, some guys just gotta spend to get something out of their systems.

I love to shop! I don’t spend much… like, I love the thrift shops, goodwill, rummage/yard sales depending on where you are from… Hubby could drop a ton of $$ on a stupid toy, just “because”… he was good at saving and always provided for his family.. but now that we both are on disability, he forgets we do not have a way to replenish what he spends… thats when the WARS start! If we are ever able to sell our house & still are thinking AZ, you & I can go bombing out the triftys shops okay!! thats if hubby doesn’t spend it all 1st!! Hugs, me

Does the fact that my husband once paid $80 for 2 chia pets give you a clue as to who is the spender? I wear to GOD my husband would be the air we breathe off the internet if he could.

I agree, if I were rich, I too would still use coupons and look for specials for the things I need.
